Learn About Richmond, VA
BUMC in RVA
Our neighborhood is a global one. Without negating this truth, Boulevard is experiencing a call to re-dedicate ourselves to those closest by–to our neighbors in the most immediate sense of the word. We are discerning what it means to be a church in and for the museum district. We see this as a privilege, even as it is an ongoing task.
We are richer for those who come and share with us what matters to them. Behind many of our outreach endeavors are people whose lives led them to care and to express that care in a particular way. Over the last year, FeedMore, Blooms that Brighten, United Methodist Family Services, CARITAS, John B. Cary and William Fox Elementary have all received congregational prayer, presence, and gifts. Each of these operate within a two-mile radius of our site.
The way we see it: If we are here to bless the city in which we gather, and there are already people and projects acting as means of grace for the well-being of our community, then we ought to be open to being grafted as opposed to focused on re-creating a wheel.
These are places with whom a connection is already experienced.
Do you know of an organization in need of a partner? Is there a resource we have that might make all the difference for an emerging RVA initiative? Tell us. The conversation, outcome aside, is an opportunity to be grown and stretched in ways we believe to be every bit the stuff of faith.
